President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima were among the key figures at the 15th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), held Friday evening at the State House Conference Centre, Presidential Villa in Abuja. The gathering brought together members of the National Working Committee, APC governors, principal officers of the National Assembly and other stakeholders.

The session, moderated by the party’s National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, is the second NEC meeting of 2025 and the first since Yilwatda assumed office in July. It opened shortly after the National Caucus meeting concluded earlier in the week.

Party leaders used the meeting to affirm support for President Tinubu’s administration and to discuss strategies for strengthening party structures and cohesion ahead of the 2027 general election. Vice President Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas underscored the need for unity, disciplined expansion and closer coordination between the legislative and executive arms of government.

Shettima expressed confidence in the party’s direction and leadership, reflecting on the APC’s governance record and political strategy. He stressed that electoral success would depend on coalition building, credibility and organisational discipline rather than online activism.

Party officials also highlighted resolutions aimed at consolidating the political framework needed to sustain the administration’s delivery on the Renewed Hope Agenda. These resolutions are expected to guide internal reforms and reinforce the APC’s policy priorities in the lead‑up to future elections.

Governors and party stakeholders present at the meeting reiterated commitments to strengthen grassroots engagement and legislative backing for national development policies. The NEC meeting is seen as a key step in shaping the party’s strategy and unity in the run‑up to 2027.
